Instructions
- Cook the rigatoni: Boil salted water, add rigatoni, and cook until al dente (10-12 minutes). Drain.
- Sauté aromatics: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion until translucent (about 5 minutes), then add minced garlic until fragrant.
- Brown sausage: Crumble in Italian sausage and cook until browned (6-8 minutes).
- Create sauce: Stir in crushed canned tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 15 minutes until thickened.
- Combine: Add drained rigatoni to the skillet and toss until coated with sauce.
- Serve: Top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and basil leaves before serving.
