Description

Apple pie is a beloved classic that fills your home with the sweet aroma of spiced apples and flaky crust. This delightful recipe combines tart and sweet apples, warm spices, and a buttery crust to create a comforting dessert perfect for family gatherings or cozy nights in. Enjoy it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or savor it chilled for breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples (mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter (cubed)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp ice-cold water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add ice water until dough forms. Chill for at least 1 hour.
  2. Prepare the filling: Peel, core, and slice apples. Toss with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Roll out chilled dough into two circles; fit one into a pie dish.
  4. Fill with apple mixture and top with second dough circle. Seal edges and cut slits for ventilation.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake for 15 minutes, reduce heat to 350°F (175°C), and bake another 45 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before slicing.
