Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (plus ingredients as per package)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 (3.4 oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Whipped topping or fresh whipped cream (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and grease a 9Γ—13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine yellow cake mix, eggs, and milk; blend well. Pour into the baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes before poking holes all over the top with a fork.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until thickened; pour over the poked cake.
  5. In a saucepan over low heat, melt heavy cream with chocolate chips until smooth to create ganache. Cool slightly and pour over the pudding layer.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, before serving.

Keywords: For added flavor, consider using homemade pudding instead of instant. You can substitute vanilla pudding with chocolate pudding or add espresso powder for an adult twist.
