Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz pasta (spaghetti, penne, or gluten-free)
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente (8-10 minutes). Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain.
  2. While the pasta cooks, prepare broccoli by cutting it into small florets and rinsing under cold water.
  3. In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté minced garlic until fragrant (about 1 minute).
  4. Add broccoli florets to the pan; sauté for 5 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  5. Combine cooked pasta with broccoli in the pan. Add reserved pasta water if needed for moisture.
  6. Stir in lemon juice, salt, pepper, and grated Parmesan until well mixed.
  7. Serve hot, garnishing with extra Parmesan or red pepper flakes if desired.
