Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 pounds)
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 8 slices thinly sliced ham
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil (olive or vegetable)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Butterfly each chicken breast by slicing horizontally without cutting all the way through.
  3. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper. Layer ham and cheese inside each breast, then fold over.
  4. Set up a dredging station with one plate for flour, another for beaten eggs, and a third for panko.
  5. Dip each stuffed breast first in flour, then egg, and finally coat generously with panko.
  6. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Fry the chicken until golden brown on both sides (about 3-4 minutes per side).
  7. Transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
