Description

Savor the creamy goodness of Smothered Chicken and Rice, a comforting dish that’s perfect for family dinners and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil for searing
  • Green onions (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season chicken with salt and pepper, then sear for about 5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  2. Add minced garlic to the skillet; sauté until fragrant. Pour in heavy cream and chicken broth, whisking to combine and deglaze the pan.
  3. Stir in uncooked rice until well-coated with the sauce. Nestle the seared chicken back into the skillet.
  4. Cover and simmer on low for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed most of the liquid.
  5. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
