Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20)
- 1 medium sweet onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 4 oz (113g) provolone cheese, sliced
- ½ cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté chopped onion and green bell pepper until soft, about 5 minutes. Let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, sautéed vegetables, panko breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf on the prepared baking sheet and press slices of provolone cheese into the center.
- Bake for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Brush ketchup on top during the last 10 minutes.
- Allow resting for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
